These images were made in a variety of settings from elegant European breeding farms, show-horse training stables or corrals to wild horse territories located in US national forests. From the earliest European cave images, where horses are depicted more often than any other animal, people have been drawing, painting and now photographing these magnificent creatures.
My photographs of horses are taken from a vibrant collection of images made in various places around the world. “Why horses? The hugest of eyes can be soulfully gentle or wildly inflamed. The exquisite body conformation reveals muscled velvet and steel. Their sociable nature is heart-warming, both with each other and with us.” – Cheryl Cathcart
